Before the courtroom… there were arenas.

Before legal arguments… there were championship fights.

While most people only saw the lights, I experienced the discipline behind them.

Through my work as a hairstylist, I found myself moving not only through music and media spaces, but also around the world of professional boxing. Traveling to fights. Preparing for moments where everything came down to timing, precision, and pressure.

I spent time around Larry Holmes, a world heavyweight champion who stood in the ring with Muhammad Ali and made history.

But what people don’t see is the personal side of proximity.

He treated me like family.

We even shared the same birthday, November 3rd. So in a way, I celebrated life inside of championship spaces. My moments blended into moments that were already larger than life.

That was normal for me.

The same way I would find myself in rooms connected to Sean Combs during his era of influence, I was also present in environments where fighters were preparing for some of the biggest moments of their lives.

I witnessed something powerful in those spaces.

Discipline at a different level.

Focus that shuts everything else out.

Pressure that doesn’t ask if you’re ready.

It demands that you are.

I saw fighters win. I saw fighters lose.

I saw what it takes to carry expectation on your back.

And without realizing it at the time…

I was being trained again.
